I donated blood for the first time ever yesterday.
Now, I’m not a fan of needles, in fact I kinda hate them. But it was honestly wicked easy! The finger prick was over faster than I was able to cringe for it, and it’s already healed to the point that I don’t feel it while typing this. The nurse was very nice. I told her it was my first time, and that I was nervous, to which she responded that she was gonna walk me through the whole process. The needle part (which I dreaded) was in in under a second, and I didn’t really feel it for the rest of the ten minutes it was in. I seriously almost fell asleep laying there I was so relaxed (and I would have, but I had to make sure I was done in time to get to class). I was very pleasantly surprised at how painless the whole process was. From initial sign in to walking away from the donation area to get to my class it took me no more than 45 minutes. I walked away honestly wondering why everyone didn’t donate blood, considering how easy it was and how many lives it saves.
